In wake of the heightened conflict between the U.S. and Iran, President Donald Trump said on Jan. 8 that the United States will be immediately imposing additional “punishing” economic sanctions on Iran. Trump said the “powerful” sanctions will remain until Iran abandons its nuclear ambitions and ends its support for international terrorism.
