1 dead, 1 airlifted following 4-vehicle collision on Hwy. 118 in Algonquin Highlands

One person is dead and another airlifted to a Toronto hospital following a 4-vehicle collision on Highway 118 in Algonquin Highlands on Wednesday morning.

The collision before 8 a.m. happened near St. Peters Road, just east of Carnarvon. OPP say the driver of a pickup was ejected and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A cement truck driver was airlifted with serious injuries to a Toronto-area trauma centre.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. The name of the victim has yet to be released.
