Vaccinations urged after Okanagan students get potentially deadly disease

Two cases of meningococcal disease have been diagnosed in students at Oliver’s Southern Okanagan Secondary School. One more case is being investigated. Meningococcal disease is a bacterial infection that can infect the lining of the brain and/or the blood. It can cause serious side effects including headache, stiff neck, nausea, drowsiness and seizures. It can lead to death. Interior Health is setting up urgent vaccination clinics and urging all students and staff at the school, as well as anyone else
