Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on Thursday reacted to U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of reciprocal tariffs saying “unfortunately, Canada has not been spared… At midnight last night, Canada was being hit with new and completely unjustifiable tariffs on autos,” Poilievre said. “We need to protect auto workers… that’s why I’m announcing today that a new Conservative government will eliminate the federal sales tax on Canadian-made automobiles.”
