Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly provided an update on Canada’s efforts to stop the implementation of punishing U.S. tariffs Friday, morning following meetings in Washington on border security, trade and investment Thursday. Joly warned that the imposition of tariffs could lead to significant consequences, describing the situation as “basically starting a trade war. The Americans would be starting a trade war against us, and this would be the biggest trade war between Canada and us in decades.”
