Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Bloc Québécois leader Yves-François Blanchet recounted his night and how he learned of the party’s win in the byelection in the Montreal-area riding of LaSalle-Émard—Verdun. Blanchet also said NDP leader Jagmeet Singh would have to “face” the fact that his decision to “ask for a divorce” from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau – in the form of withdrawing from the supply-and-confidence agreement – led to a surge of “momentum” for the Bloc in the final days of the campaign.
