During a Friday update, Edmonton Police Services (EPS) Acting Supt. Colin Derksen said that it was “upsetting” to confirm that an 11-year-old child was killed on Thursday following the targeted killing of his 41-year-old father, Harpreet Uppal, who was identified as a high-profile gang member. “The loss of a child at the hands of gun violence is unthinkable,” Dersen said, adding that the risk to members of the public was “significant and terrifying” and was an “ongoing trend” in the city.
