Over a span of 11 years, annual rates of Ontario emergency department visits for cannabis-related traffic injuries have surged 475 per cent, according to a recent study.

Starting Monday, the westbound stretch of Fleet Street between Bathurst and Iannuzzi Street will only be accessible to pedestrians and cyclists, a move intended to improve pedestrian safety.

The city said its Vision Zero campaign reduced traffic deaths and injuries in 2016.
