The blaze has gone from an estimated 2,000 hectares to nearly 9,000 hectares in size, threatening Lytton, Boston Bar, the Nahatlatch Lake area, and North Bend. 

An observer was stationed at the Nahatlatch Lookout tower every fire season until the early 1970s, when advances in fire detection made human observation less critical.
