Vancouver Boat Show Contest – Finalist Spot Contest Rules

The following are the rules (“Rules”) for the Vancouver Boat Show Contest – Finalist Spot Contest (the “Contest”) being administered by Shaw Television Limited Partnership (“Shaw”).

1. ELIGIBILITY

 

To be eligible for the Contest, entrants must:

 

  • be legal residents of the province of British Columbia;
  • be the age of majority or older at the time of entry in the province of British Columbia; and
  • if selected as the Shaw Finalist (as defined below), and consequently selected as the winner of the Vancouver Boat Show Contest Prize (as defined below), must be able to travel and participate in the Vancouver Boat Show Contest Prize between June 15, 2015 and September 11, 2015.

 

Employees of Shaw and its affiliates, subsidiaries, related companies, advertising and promotional agencies and the household members of any of the above, are not eligible to participate in the Contest.

 

  1. GIVEAWAY PERIOD

 

The Contest shall run from Monday, January 12, 2015 at 5:00 a.m. to Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 11:59:59 p.m. EST (the “Contest Period”) after which time no further entries will be considered.

3. HOW TO ENTER

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. To enter, entrants must visit www.globalnews.ca/bc/contests (the “Contest Website”) and complete and submit a Contest entry form. No entries will be accepted by any other means.

Entries received online shall be deemed to be submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the entry. For the purposes of these Rules, “authorized account holder” of an e-mail address is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.

 

  1. PRIZE

 

The selected entrant (the “Shaw Finalist”) will receive one (1) entry into the grand prize draw for the Vancouver Boat Show Contest (the “Vancouver Boat Show Contest Prize”) where the Shaw Finalist could have a one (1) in four (4) chance to win a trip for two (2) as further described on the Vancouver Boat Show website: http://www.vancouverboatshow.ca/downloads/contests/Grand-Prize.pdf. The Vancouver Boat Show Contest will be solely administered by The Vancouver Boat Show and/or their agent, Laura Ballance. Shaw reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the Prize cannot be awarded for any reason. The Prize is not transferable, will not be extended under any circumstances and must be accepted as offered without substitution.

 

Shaw shall not assume any liability for participation in the Vancouver Boat Show Contest or for the acceptance of the prize offered in connection thereto.

5. SELECTION OF THE SHAW FINALIST

 

Upon completion of the Contest Period, a Shaw representative shall randomly draw one (1) entrant from all eligible entrants received during the Contest Period as the potential Shaw Finalist. The selected entrant will be notified by telephone or e-mail no later than 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2015 and must respond to the notification within twenty-four (24) hours. If a selected entrant does not respond within the prescribed timeline, he/she will be disqualified and another entrant will be randomly selected from the pool of eligible entries.  Before being declared the Shaw Finalist, the selected entrant must correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, a mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by telephone or e-mail and must comply with these Rules. The odds of being selected as the Shaw Finalist are dependent upon the number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period. Shaw shall be in no way responsible for the failure, for any reason whatsoever, of a selected entrant to receive notification or for Shaw’s failure to receive a selected entrant’s response.

 

  1. INDEMNIFICATION BY ENTRANT

 

By entering the Contest, each entrant releases and holds Shaw harmless from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind to the entrant or any other person, including personal injury, death, or property damage, resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any Prize, participation in the Contest, any breach of the Rules, or in any Prize-related activity, including participation as a Shaw Finalist in the grand prize draw for the Vancouver Boat Show Contest. The entrant agrees to fully indemnify Shaw from any and all claims by third parties relating to the Contest, without limitation.

 

7. GENERAL

 

By participating in the Contest, you agree to abide by these Rules and the decisions of Shaw in selecting the Shaw Finalist, such decisions shall be final and binding upon all entrants. Entrants who have not complied with these Rules are subject to disqualification. Shaw reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate the Contest, in whole or part, and/or modify, amend or suspend the Contest, and/or these Rules in any way, at any time, for any reason without prior notice. For the purposes of the Contest and the awarding of the prize, these Rules shall govern in all respects. Interpretation of these Rules and the decisions of any Shaw representatives shall be final.

 

Personal information collected during the course of the Contest shall be used by Shaw and its authorized representatives solely for the purposes of conducting the Contest and selecting the Shaw Finalist, and will not be used or disclosed for any other purpose unless required by law. Shaw will use the entrant’s personal information only for identified purposes, and protect the entrant’s Personal Information in a manner that is consistent with Shaw’s Privacy Policy at: www.shawmedia.ca/privacy.asp.

 

By participating in the Contest, the Shaw Finalist agrees that:

 

  • his/her name and contact information shall be provided to the Vancouver Boat Show and/or their agent, Laura Ballance for the sole purpose of administering the Vancouver Boat Show Contest and selecting the winner of such contest; and
  • his/her name may be used in any and all forms of media, without any further compensation by Shaw and waives all rights (including moral rights) with respect to printed, broadcast and other forms of publicity.

 

The Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by any social media platforms on which the Contest may have been advertised.

 

The Contest is subject to all applicable laws of the province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein.
