29-year-old killed in Richmond, B.C., shooting

Police found a victim's body in Richmond, B.C., after shots rang out in the early morning hours not far from one of the city's major SkyTrain stations. Kamil Karamali reports – Sep 24, 2023

A 29-year-old man was killed in a shooting in Richmond, B.C. on Sunday.

Homicide investigators were called to the area of Cooney Road and Anderson Road around 4:52 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a victim in medical distress who died shortly after. That man has since been identified as Richmond native “Jackie” Giang Giang Tran.

A nearby resident said he heard four gunshots that woke him on Sunday.

“It sounded like someone was smashing against my front door but now that I am thinking about it – it was definitely gunshots,” Ali Gokal said.

“It’s pretty scary. It’s something no one wants to hear in their neighbourhood. It’s unnerving”

“The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off until further notice,” Staff Sgt. Sahan Perera.

“The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Richmond RCMP.”
