TORONTO — Actress and reality show star NeNe Leakes is recovering after being hospitalized for shortness of breath.
“I’m thankful to be alive,” declared the 45-year-old Glee star in a message posted Monday on her website.
Leakes said she was diagnosed with blood clots in her lungs.
“I’m told this happened to me because of the constant traveling around the country that I do for my job,” she explained.

“The doctor advised me that most people don’t recognize the symptoms of blood clots and don’t go to the doctor and that’s when the big problems start happening.”
She denied reports that she had suffered a heart attack.
Thanking her fans for their concern, Leakes said she is “blessed to be home with my wonderful husband and family!”
Leakes, whose real name is Linnethia Johnson, is familiar for her part on The Real Housewives of Atlanta and for competing on Celebrity Apprentice in 2011. In addition to her recurring role on Glee, she starred in the short-lived sitcom The New Normal.
