EDMONTON – A 16-year-old girl has died after being hit by a pick-up truck in Grande Prairie early Saturday morning.
Police were called to the area of 99 Avenue and Resources Road around 2:00 a.m. Officers say the teen was struck by a pick-up truck that fled the scene. The 16-year-old was rushed to hospital where she later died.
RCMP say they located the suspect vehicle, a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado, abandoned later Saturday morning.
Officers are now hoping to speak with the driver or passengers of an orange coloured vehicle that was believed to have been in the area when the girl was hit. RCMP believe the car was nearly hit by the Silverado as it went through the intersection.
No arrests have been made at this time.
The 16-year-old girl has been identified as Cassidy Dietrich.
