A wildfire in Little Harbour, N.S., is 25 per cent contained but remains out of control, according to the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables.
In an update Monday afternoon, DNRR spokesperson Patricia Jreige said the fire is an estimated 56.5 hectares in size. There were 19 DNRR staff, seven volunteer firefighters, and one helicopter at the scene.
The wildfire was initially estimated at 10 hectares, but Jreige said the fire has not grown since the last update.
“The original size estimate was done with a lot of smoke in the area, which made it difficult to measure accurately,” she said.
There are no reports of structural damage.
Some homes in the area were evacuated Sunday due to the fire. Jreige said there are no evacuation orders in place but some may leave voluntarily.
