TORONTO — The new Christian Grey is Irish actor Jamie Dornan.
The 31-year-old is already in Vancouver — where the Fifty Shades of Grey movie is set to begin production next month — starring as The Huntsman in the TV series Once Upon a Time.
The Hollywood Reporter said Dornan screen-tested with Fifty Shades co-star Dakota Johnson on Friday and is currently in talks with producers to finalize a deal.
The movie is based on the bestselling erotic novels by E.L. James.
Dornan made his big screen debut opposite Kirsten Dunst in 2006’s Marie Antoinette. He also starred in the British drama Shadows in the Sun.
The former Calvin Klein model dated actress Keira Knightley from 2003 to 2005 and married actress-singer Amelia Warner this past April. The couple are expecting their first child.
Dornan replaces Charlie Hunnam, who dropped out of the project in early October. The 33-year-old Sons of Anarchy star will be in Toronto in February to make the horror film Haunted Peak.
Cameras are scheduled to roll on Fifty Shades in Vancouver on Nov. 5 with director Sam Taylor-Johnson.
