Although the shelter-in-place order has since been lifted by the RCMP, Woodland Cree chief and council chose to maintain it due to a heavy police presence in the area and the potentially armed suspect still on the loose.

The First Nation has asked residents to not approach the suspect if seen, and to report any details to the Peace River RCMP.

Woodland Cree First Nation is made up of four reserves about 500 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
