Winnipeg police say stabbing on Higgins is now a homicide investigation

Winnipeg police shut down Higgins Street for an investigation into a stabbing that is now being investigated as a homicide.

Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at about 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers found 40-year-old Brian Edward Anderson from Winnipeg seriously injured and administered emergency medical care.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

Higgins Street was still closed between Austin and Main streets as of 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
