A North Vancouver woman is devastated she has lost an aquamarine stone from her grandmother’s ring, and has turned to social media to try and find it.

On Sunday September 29 Sasha Brown went running on Grouse, Fromme and Seymour, and while she was on her run, the stone fell out of her ring. She has a lot of ground to cover to find it however, as her run lasted for 25 kilometres.

“Unfortunately it’s a really huge haystack,” said Brown.

She and her husband got married in the summer and even though they eloped, they told her mom and she gave them the ring to wear as a wedding band. Brown then had the stone removed and put in a new setting.

She put a posting on Facebook and on Craigslist that she had lost the stone, and Brown said the response has been amazing.

“Nobody’s found it, but everyone’s looking for it,” she said.

Coast Mountain Trail Series and North Shore Athletics are even offering rewards to anyone who finds the stone.

“It’s taken on a life of its own,” said Brown. “It’s turned, I was, I still am, but I was devastated, absolutely devastated when I lost the ring. I didn’t want to tell my mom.”

But Brown said she is just so touched by the response to her loss, she gets goosebumps talking about it.

She is also offering a reward and you can contact her through Craigslist.

“I’m very touched and like I say it’s very heartwarming to see the response,” said Brown.
