Halifax police investigate death of woman, 91, after altercation at care home

HALIFAX – Halifax Regional Police are investigating a suspicious death after responding to an altercation at a care facility.

Police say they were called to Evan Hall at 156 Parkland Dr. shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday about an alleged assault that had happened earlier in the evening.

Police say their preliminary investigation revealed that a 74-year-old woman allegedly got into an altercation with a 91-year-old woman and the older woman fell to the floor and suffered serious injuries.

The woman died Sunday night in hospital.

Police say they are investigating what happened as a suspicious death.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine the woman’s cause of death.
