The Variety Show of Hearts Telethon has wrapped its 2022 edition, and generous British Columbians have once again opened their hearts and wallets to help support B.C.’s kids with special needs.
This year, donors helped raise $6,936,621 total.

Saturday’s telethon followed two days of coverage about how Variety is helping kids and their families, and introduced viewers to some more of B.C.’s kids and their inspiring stories.
“I’m once again left speechless by the unbelievable generosity of our donors and supporters,” said Cally Wesson, Variety BC CEO said in a release.
“Realizing how challenging the past two years has been for all of us, it’s extremely heartwarming to see that British Columbians will still band together during the toughest of times to ensure that we’ll always be here for BC’s kids. It’s absolutely overwhelming.”
“I’m always amazed at the generosity of people in BC,” said Bhupinder Hundal, News Director & Station Manager, Global BC. “With this incredible support, the future of so many kids and their families is much brighter thanks to all of you.”
Hosts Chris Gailus, Sophie Lui, Kristi Gordon, Neetu Garcha, Paul Haysom and Jay Janower from Global BC returned to the stage as well as 980 CKNW’s Jody Vance. They were joined by Show of Hearts favourites, Howard Blank, Alvin Law & Marco Pasqua along with actor and parent advocate, Bethel Lee, singer-songwriter, Seven Taviss and Variety Youth Champions, Janelle Milne and Esabella Strickland.
Last year’s telethon raised $6,681,873 million.
Donations can be made by calling toll-free at 310-KIDS as well as online or by texting “KIDS” to 45678 to make an automatic $20 contribution.
