TORONTO — Canadian artists Justin Bieber and Drake scored themselves nominations Tuesday for this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards.
Bieber is up against Deadmau5, Drake, Tegan and Sara and The Weeknd for Best Canadian Act.
The 19-year-old Ontario native will challenge Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, One Direction and Taylor Swift for Best Pop and take on Bruno Mars, Eminem, Jay Z and Justin Timberlake for Best Male.
Bieber is also nominated in the Biggest Fans category.
Toronto’s Drake is vying for Best Hip Hop versus Eminem, Jay Z, Kanye West and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
Robin Thicke, who is half-Canadian, is nominated for Best U.S. Act and Best World Stage for a performance in Malaysia. His hit “Blurred Lines” is in the running for Best Song and Best Video.
The MTV EMAs will be handed out Nov. 10 in Amsterdam.
