Motorcycle gang activity in Peterborough leads to police checkpoints

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – Police in Peterborough, Ont., say they are keeping watch over an increased number of motorcycle gang members in the city today.

Peterborough police and the Provincial Biker Enforcement Unit are making vehicle stops to ensure sobriety as well as proper licensing, insurance and equipment at various checkpoint locations.

Police say they want to reassure residents that order will be maintained.

There may be some delays near checkpoints while police conduct the checks.

No arrests have been made.

A police spokesman said he didn’t know why there are more bikers in Peterborough today.
