Saanich police are hunting for three suspects who attacked a woman Wednesday night.
Investigators say the 49 year old victim was on the Galloping Goose trail.
Three young men came up suddenly and hit her in the face, for no apparent reason.
She was treated in hospital for a gash and facial swelling.
Officers swept through the area on both foot and bicycle, but did not manage to find the men.
Investigators are now hoping people who might have been in the area at the time will come forward.
