Squamish police say hiker who died on the Chief was a 52-year-old woman

Squamish police confirm the hiker who plunged to her death off a steep slope on the Stawamus Chief near Squamish was a 52-year-old woman. They also called her death a tragic accident.

They are not releasing any further details about her at this time.

Originally, authorities said the victim was believed to be in her mid-to-late 30’s.

She was seen hiking alone along the Grand Wall area of the popular trail on Sunday.

Witnesses say they heard a scream, and some people even saw her fall.

She was wearing khaki shorts and a blue top. She had short curly brown hair.
