Serious crash in south London sends two people to hospital

Two people were taken to hospital after a crash Monday night in the south end of the city.

It happened just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of Wellington Road and Harlech Gate, south of Southdale Road East.

Police responded to the scene and found two vehicles had collided, leaving the drivers injured.

Both drivers were taken to hospital.

In an update Tuesday morning, police said a woman, 26, remains in hospital in critical condition while a man, 24, sustained minor injuries and has since been released from hospital.

The intersection was closed for several hours before reopening early Tuesday morning.

The cause of the crash is unclear and police have not said whether charges may be laid in the case. The investigation is ongoing.
