18-year-old dead after fight in Centennial neighbourhood, say Winnipeg police

A young man is dead after a fight in front of a Centennial neighbourhood home.

Police said Zachary Paul Rae, 18, got involved in a fight in front of a home in the 100 block of Kate St. on Sept. 23 at about 9:10 p.m with another person. During the fight, said police, a weapon was brought out and Rae was stabbed.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Two days later, he died from his injuries, said police.

No arrests have been made and the police are looking for information. Anyone with information is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.

“Small little details can sometimes be critical, and are often critical in cases like this,” said Const. Rob Carver Monday.

He also asked people who have cameras who may have seen something at the time to share that footage with police as well.

This is the city’s 32nd homicide of 2020.
