Peel Regional Police say a man has died after he was shot in Brampton on Friday morning.
Emergency crews were called to Queen Street East and Rutherford Road North shortly before 7 a.m.
Police said when officers arrived to the area they found a man in a trucking yard suffering from gunshot wounds and was in life-threatening condition.
The man, who is in his early 30s, died a short time later at the scene, police said.
“The original call came through as an individual that actually came into the trucking yard to pick up their truck,” Peel Regional Police Const. Danny Marttini told reporters.

“So to our knowledge we don’t have any actual sounds of shots fired, that’s not to say that there isn’t another witness out there that may have heard something and that will be part of our investigation.”
There is a large police presence in the area, including the canine unit. Police have not yet released a suspect description as they are reviewing video footage and looking to speak to witnesses.
Rise N Shine Kids, a daycare located at the intersection, was put under lockdown as a precaution. Police said there is no relation to the shooting and is regular protocol.
