Fire causes $50K of damage to Saskatoon home

Members of the Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a burning garage  and shed in the northwest of the city on Saturday afternoon.

Around 4:30 p.m., firefighters, the Saskatoon Police Service and Medavie Health Service West paramedics rushed to a fire in the 300 block of Bowman Crescent.

Firefighters arrived in less than four minutes, with six trucks, to find a garage fully engulfed and a shed, fence and tree also on fire, according to a statement released on Sunday.

Firefighters had the fire under control in about 15 minutes, though the garage was largely destroyed.

No one was injured.

An investigator determined improper disposal of ashes from an outdoor fire pit caused the fire and estimated the damage at $50,000.
