81-year-old Mississauga woman dead, husband charged with 1st-degree murder: police

Peel Regional Police say an 81-year-old Mississauga woman is dead and her husband has been charged with first-degree murder.

Police said in a statement that emergency crews were called by a care provider in a condo unit on Kaneff Drive in the area of Hurontario Street and Burnhamthorpe Road just after 8 a.m.

The statement said the victim, Marion Wallace, died at the scene.

“The evidence that was presented to officers and paramedics when they arrived led them in the direction that this was in fact a suspicious death,” said Const. Akhil Mooken.

He said a man was taken into custody and was taken to hospital to treat minor injuries.

Eighty-six-year-old Lawton Wallace was charged with first-degree murder. Police said the accused is the husband of the victim.
