Convicted killer William Bicknell is facing a slew of new charges, including kidnapping, break and enter and threat of violence in connection to an alleged escape from custody on Thursday, March 10th.

Bicknell allegedly escaped while on an escorted absence from the Drumheller Correctional Institution.

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP have charged Bicknell with Escape lawful custody, Theft under threat of violence, Break and Enter a dwelling house, Kidnaping with a firearm, two counts of Point a firearm and Unlawful confinement with a firearm.

Additionally, Bicknell is facing charges from Vegreville RCMP after an alleged kidnapping on March 14th. The charges in Vegreville include Kidnaping with a firearm, Unlawful confinement with a firearm, Point a firearm and Break and enter a dwelling house with intent.

An investigation is ongoing in Sexsmith, Alberta where Bicknell was taken into custody. Charges are pending.

Bicknell is set to appear in Fort Saskatchewan court on March 24, 2011 and the Vegreville Courthouse on March 28, 2011.

Bicknell is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Angela Steer of Maple Ridge, B.C. in 2001.
