CALGARY- The man accused of killing a local radio legend and his wife made his first court appearance on Monday.
35-year-old Derek Puffer is facing second-degree murder charges in the deaths of sports broadcaster Billy Powers and his wife, Donna Lee.
The couple was stabbed to death in their Braeside home early Thursday morning.
Puffer is the adopted son of Donna Lee, and was living with the couple at the time of their deaths.
A 30-day psychiatric assessment was ordered in court on Monday, and Puffer’s next appearance is scheduled for August 7.
