EDMONTON- Edmontonians are just days away from what’s billed one of our city’s funniest summer festivals.
The Edmonton Street Performers Festival will take over Sir Winston Churchill Square on Friday.
Now in its 29th year, StreetFest offers over 1,500 entertaining outdoor performances. About 60 street artists from around the world will come together to perform in the 10-day festival.
With many new artists, and some returning favourites, festival-goers should expect to see everything from musicians to jugglers, from acrobats to unicyclists.
“The way we greet our artists, the way we treat our artists, the way the Edmonton audiences know to come and literally play with our audiences is something that’s really quite fantastic,” said Shelley Switzer, artistic producer of the festival.
Since 1984, almost four million people have taken part in the festival. Programming runs every day from 11:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., from July 5-14.
