The Vancouver Canucks have traded Cory Schneider to the New Jersey Devils for the 9th pick in the first round of the NHL draft.
With that pick they chose left wing Bo Horvat, from the OHL’s London Knights.
Fans and critics on social media have been quick to react to the news of Schneider’s trade and of Horvat joining the team.

Horvat spoke to the media shortly after the news was announced, saying he had no idea he was going to be picked by the Canucks, but anything can happen on draft day.
“I’m over happy to be a part of the organization,” he said.
“I just can’t wait to get there and show them what I’ve got.”
Horvat said he was really surprised to hear he had been traded for Schneider, “but it’s really humbling they traded a guy that high for me,” he added.
When asked if he feels he is ‘NHL ready’, Horvat said there are definitely things he has to work on, maybe on some of his skating skills, but otherwise he said he is ready.
“I don’t feel any pressure actually, I think it’s more exciting than anything, like I said I’m just really happy to be part of the organization,” he said.
Horvat will head to prospect’s camp in a few weeks.
