Police arrest man in Owen Sound after alleged nose biting and attempted stabbing

OWEN SOUND, Ont. – Police have arrested a man in Owen Sound, Ont., after a fight between two acquaintances resulted in one man violently biting another on the nose.

Owen Sound police say a man entered a residence early Saturday morning in an attempt to settle an outstanding financial debt with another man he knew.

The victim was then allegedly attacked by the man who lived at the residence, and during the course of the incident, the man allegedly bit the victim’s face, causing lacerations to his nose.

The victim then broke free, but the suspect allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and attempted to stab the victim, at which point a neighbour came to the aid of the victim and police and paramedics were called to the scene.

When police attempted to arrest the suspect, he allegedly said he would shoot the officers in the head during future court proceedings. The man also allegedly tried to spit and urinate on the officers.

Police say 30-year-old Michael Zawislak of Owen Sound, Ont., was held for bail on numerous charges including assault, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, assaulting police, breach of undertaking and two counts of breach of probation.
