TORONTO – Do animals grieve and mourn the dead? In a heartbreaking video posted to YouTube, it appears a dog does just that.
In the video posted on Sunday, a dog can be seen using its snout to push sand over the lifeless pup in what appears to be an act of mourning as passersby looked on from the side of a roadway.
It is unclear where the three-and-half minute burial took place, but the title of the video suggests it was somewhere in Iraq.

Also unknown is whether the two animals were related or if the dog was just doing what no other human would — giving it a proper burial.
According to a study by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, two-thirds of household dogs experienced lethargy and loss of appetite after losing a housemate.
