TORONTO – Masai Ujiri is returning to the Toronto Raptors.

After weeks of negotiations, the NBA team today named Ujiri as its new general manager.

He replaces Bryan Colangelo, who is focusing solely on his duties as team president.

Ujiri spent three seasons as general manager of the Denver Nuggets and was recently named the NBA’s executive of the year.

Ujiri has previously worked as Toronto’s director of global scouting and held the assistant GM position from 2008 through 2010.

The 34-48 Raptors finished tied for ninth in the Eastern Conference this past season and missed the playoffs for the fifth straight year.
