The Alberta International Airshow will be held once every two years

Changes are coming to the Alberta International Airshow. Officials announced Wednesday the Airshow, which takes place at the Lethbridge County Airport, will happen once every two years.

Airshow President, Brent Botfield says it was a difficult decision. Botfield says the main reason is the U.S. Military cutbacks. ” We are not getting any support from the states. It’s understandable because of their financial decision. There has been over 70 cancellations in the US for airshows,”says Botfield. “They don’t have the budget so they simply can’t do it.”

Botfield notes the Airshow will get full Canadian support every second year and that’s why this decision was made. He says having a jet team at the airshow helps out attendance greatly and that’s huge when it comes to ticket sales.

This year’s Airshow is set for July 20th and 21st.
