Pedestrian dead after being struck by vehicle in Toronto’s north end

A 69-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle in North York Friday morning.

Toronto paramedics responded to the call just before 10 a.m. to the area of Finch Avenue East and Doris Avenue, just east of Yonge Street.

Emergency crews said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

Toronto police said the vehicle was travelling eastbound along the intersection when it mounted the curb and drove along the sidewalk, striking the elderly woman.

Officers said the 35-year-old man driving the vehicle remained on scene and was also taken to hospital to be medically assessed for any injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.
