OPP lay careless driving charges in two unrelated collisions Wednesday evening

Provincial police have laid careless driving charges following two separate collisions that took place minutes apart near London Wednesday evening.

The collisions happened just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, one near Stratford, the other closer to Tillsonburg.

The near-Stratford collision saw emergency crews called to Perth-Oxford Road following a chain reaction collision involving three vehicles.

Police say an eastbound vehicle crossed over the center line and clipped a westbound transport truck. The eastbound vehicle then hit a third vehicle, causing it to crash into a guard rail.

A 44-year-old man from Kitchener needed to be extricated from his vehicle, and was transported to hospital.

He’s been charged with careless driving.

The driver of the third vehicle was also taken to hospital, while the transport truck driver was not injured.

Police say they were called to a collision at an Oxford Road 13 home. Following an investigation, police say they learned that a vehicle was travelling south on the roadway when its driver lost control.

The vehicle then entered the west ditch and leaped into the air before landing in a nearby field, according to police.

Officers say the driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

A 64-year-old woman from Norfolk County is facing one count of careless driving.
