Stolen car suspect rams, then steals police cruiser in Elmwood chase

A police car was rammed and then stolen in an Elmwood-area incident Monday night.

Police said they were following a stolen vehicle in the area of Munroe Avenue and Watt Street around 8:55 p.m., when the vehicle came to a stop in a dead-end lot.

A marked police cruiser pulled in behind it,and the suspect drove directly at the officers, rammed the police car and fled.

Police said the suspect vehicle crashed into a building near Watt Street and Larsen Avenue a short distance later.

One suspect was found in the vehicle and arrested with the help of a taser.

A second suspect, police said, got into the police cruiser and drove off.

Police said the stolen cruiser was driven through Elmwood before being dumped near Harbison Avenue and Glenwood Crescent.

The suspect who stole the cruiser is still at large.
