Toronto police and Crime Stoppers are offering a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of a suspect wanted in the playground shooting that left two children seriously injured in June 2018.
Two sisters, aged five and nine, were shot in a small park near a residential complex in the McCowan Road and Alton Towers Circle area on June 14 at around 5 p.m.
According to police, a man opened fire on another man who was in a small park with about 11 other small children playing outside.
One of the girls was in critical condition when she was taken to hospital, and both were later downgraded to stable condition. Officers at the time said the girls were not the intended targets.
Investigators are still looking for 24-year-old T’Quan Robertson, who is wanted for attempted murder, discharging a firearm with intent, and two counts of aggravated assault.
Robertson is described as five-foot-eight and 130 pounds.
“This is a message from the Toronto police and the family of the two little girls, that Mr. Robertson there is nowhere to go. We will apprehend you sooner rather than later, so do the right thing. Call a lawyer,” said Deputy Chief Peter Yuen at a news conference at police headquarters on Tuesday morning.
“I am very confident someone out in the community knows Mr Robertson,” said Yuen.
Police also warned that anyone harbouring or assisting Robertson may also face charges.
Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can reach out directly to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
“Crime Stoppers will always guarantee your anonymity and you will never be required to testify – so we urge you, if you know where T’Quan Robertson is or you have any information that can assist investigators in locating him – come forward. Speak up. Break the silence and by doing so, you will be making a difference in the safety of your community,” said Crime Stoppers Chair Sean Sportun.
