Suspects steal, crash tractor trailer leading to West Island police chase

Montreal police are investigating after a tractor trailer was apparently stolen from Avro Avenue, near Sources Boulevard in the West Island.

The two suspects ran the truck into a dead end and abandoned it, officers stated.

They then fled by foot to a nearby Tim Hortons, where one of them was stopped by police. The second suspect then allegedly took possession of a second vehicle, an SUV.

A brief chase ensued before the van crashed into a police cruiser on Hymus Boulevard.

There were two other people inside the SUV, but officers say they do not know if they were involved in the crime or if they were in the vehicle when it was stolen.

The two suspects were arrested and taken in for questioning.

There were no reported injuries.
