With large amounts of snowfall coming down on Waterloo region, Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge declared snow events on Wednesday afternoon.

This means that as of 11:59 p.m., no cars can be parked on city streets for a 24-hour period.

Cars parked on city streets are at risk of being tagged with an $80 fine or being towed.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement Tuesday which called for 10-15 cm of snow to fall on the region Wednesday.

The cities declare a snow event in order to help staff clear the roads as quickly as possible.
