Schools across London and the surrounding region are open, but winter weather has caused a second day of bus cancellations in neighbouring communities.
School bus transportation has been cancelled in Elgin, Middlesex, and Oxford Counties, and also in the Red Zone.
School buses in London are running.
The Thames Valley District School Board and the London District Catholic School Board say all schools and administrative buildings across the region are open.
The Catholic and public French school boards that serve the London-region say schools are open.
Although there have been no special weather statements from Environment Canada Wednesday morning, forecasters say we could see between 2-4 centimeters of snow throughout the day from the tail end of a Colorado low, as well as blowing snow and winds gusting up to 70 kilometers an hour.
“We’re looking at conditions improving in the evening, with the flurries ending and the winds subsiding,” said Environment Canada meteorologist Ryan Rozinksi.
He says the region received roughly 3-4 centimeters of snow and ice pellets yesterday, mixed with about nine hours of freezing rain.
Wednesday’s high is -4 C, with wind chill values of -9 C in the morning and -15 C in the afternoon. Overnight the low is -8 C, with wind chill near -16 C.
Thursday is cloudy, with periods of snow in the morning changing to periods of rain in the morning and a day time high of 2 C.
