From blowing snow and bitter wind chill in the winter, to the blistering heat of Winnipeg summers, weather effects everyone –so it makes sense to help kids learn about it.
Weather Specialist Mike Koncan visited the students in Grade 4, 5 and 6 in Garden City in January where students at R.F. Morrison, a K-6 school in Winnipeg’s Seven Oaks School Division, were treated to Weather School.
The students learned about all things ‘weather’, including why Winnipeg gets so cold (and so hot) in addition to how storms happen and the various types of precipitation.
The students were also shown some online weather tools so they can do some forecasting themselves.
