Environment Canada issued a storm warning which called for between 10-20 cm of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain to fall into Tuesday evening.
The closures included all school buses, taxis and special education routes operated by the Waterloo Catholic District School Board and Waterloo Region District School Board, according to Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region.

All extended day childcare program, night school classes and school activities were also cancelled.
Wilfrid Laurier, the University of Waterloo and Conestoga College cancelled all classes throughout the day at all locations. Most buildings on campuses were also closed.

One thing that is still scheduled to take place will be the Kitchener Rangers game as the team says the Erie Otters arrived in the city on Monday.
The region of Waterloo said garbage collection would happen as scheduled although it was expected to be slower than usual.
The City of Kitchener said that all community centres and pools would be closed as of 2 p.m. All programming and activities were also cancelled.

Wing 404 Rotary Adult Centre
- Bridge (1 p.m.)
Parkwood Retirement Homes
- Chair Yoga with Charlie (2:45 p.m.)
Waterloo Public Libraries
- All locations closed
Swimming lessons in Wilmot have been cancelled.
In Wellesley, all facilities have been closed.
Cambridge and the Township of Dumfries say things are business as usual at the moment.
All classes are cancelled and a showing of Documentary Filmmaking and Migration have been cancelled at The Balsillie School.
Canada Heavy Equipment College in Kitchener has cancelled all heavy equipment and truck training operations today due to weather.
