A man has been charged with impaired driving after a vehicle drove into the ditch in New Tecumseth, police say.
According to Nottawasaga OPP, on Saturday at around 3:30 a.m., a pickup truck drove into the ditch on the 9th Line between Tottenham Road and Adjala-Tecumseth Townline.
Officers say a concerned citizen reported to police that the truck had nearly caused a head-on collision before running off the roadway into the ditch.
Police say officers determined the truck’s driver was allegedly impaired by alcohol.
Officers say, as a result, 33-year-old Gerard Doyle from New Tecumseth was arrested and charged with operation while impaired with a blood-alcohol concentration of 80 milligrams or more.
According to police, Doyle’s licence was suspended and his vehicle was towed and impounded.
Police say he was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Bradford at a later date.
