When crews arrived, flames and smoke could be seen pouring out of the complex.

“They had the bulk of the fire out within probably 10 to 12 minutes and then there was a number of hot spots that got into the attic. They had to put out some of those hot spots around the chimney and attic space,” Fire Marshal Randy Ryba said.

“Some fella was driving by and saw the smoke and was just on his way to work and he ran around and got everyone out of the building on both sides,” said John Kinsella, a building resident.

“It was a good thing because where the fire actually burnt, they did take one guy out of there and all he was wearing was a blanket and bare feet. It didn’t look good.”

There is no word on the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.
