Oilers sign Kamloops Blazers Kale Kessy

EDMONTON- The Edmonton Oilers have signed Kamloops Blazers left winger Kale Kessy to an entry level contract.

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced Sunday, that the Oilers organization has agreed to terms with Kessy on a three-year entry level contract.

The 20-year-old Shaunovan, Saskatchewan native has played five seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL), accumulating 112 points and 511 penalty minutes in 253 games.

Kessy has played in 60 games this season, posting 43 points and 106 penalty minutes.

The 6’3″, 205-pound left winger appeared in 34 WHL post-season games recording 11 goals, nine assists and 55 penalty minutes.

In the 2012-2013 WHL playoffs, Kessy has recorded nine points including two hat tricks and six penalty minutes in six games.

The Phoenix Coyotes selected Kessy in the 4th round- 111th overall- of the 2011 NHL draft. The Oilers traded for Kessy’s rights on March 29th, 2013.
