Son of missing Chinese senior asks police to consider foul play in their investigation

Tomorrow, it will be two weeks since Clark Song’s father disappeared.

It is mystery for the Langley family that has left them exhausted as they continue to search for their loved one.

“I have no direction, and I am a little bit hopeless,” says Song.

On March 21, at around 11 a.m., 77-year-old Shengyun Song left his son’s home on 206th Street in Langley.

He said he was going for a walk, but never returned.

Song is a resident of China and doesn’t speak any English.

Since then, over a thousand posters have been distributed across the Lower Mainland thanks to the hard work of dozens of volunteers.

“Even though we have not gotten any useful tips yet, we won’t quite, our family won’t,” says Song.

That he may have met with foul play.

He points to another missing person’s case in Burnaby – the disappearance of 66-year-old Gui Feng Tong.

She’s believed to have gone missing in the BurnabyMountain area on January 16.

“I would like to give a suggestion to the police,” says Song. “They have done their job really well, and I am sure they are getting a little bit tired. But I just want to push thing forward to move their attention from the regular missing to criminal offence.”

RCMP are actively searching for both individuals, but say it doesn’t appear foul play is to blame in either case. Still, they are not ruling it out.

“Right now it appears that Mr. Song has gone out for a walk and has carried on. We don’t have any information to lead us to believe otherwise,” says Cst. Craig van Herk with Langley RCMP. Community is safe. We don’t have any concerns for that. But it would not be professional of us to rule anything out yet, because we don’t have that information.”

And while right now there’s no official search crew on the ground, Clark Song refuses to give up hope, determined to find his father and an explanation as to why he vanished without a trace.
